The Barcelos Punkock

Citizen Lab held in 2014 by Júlio Dolbeth, contributing to Portugal Portefolio with ready-made variations of the Barcelos Cock out of the press of the day. The aim was/is to confront the timeless heritage of folk references with contemporary media and processes. The medium of collage, in this case, itself inherits historical references to various Twentieth-Century art practices, while being deeply of the Now by employing the newspaper of the day as the exclusive source of content. References to analogue playfulness, local culture and a certain punk approach are also included, and regarded as cathartic and pedagogical.
