Anabela Duarte is a singer and a post-doc researcher (FCT) in the field of arts, music and literature. She works in the University of Lisbon – Faculty of Letters and is affiliated researcher at the Center for Post-Colonial Studies of the University of London. In 2014/15 she edited a volume of essays in Rodopi (Brill) on Paul Bowles literature and music – Paul Bowles, the new generaton, Do You Bowles? and an essay on music and sound torture in Music & Politics journal. Her projects include studies in invisibility and also the arts in north-africa. As a singer/musician she has recorded for different labels such as Ananana, Sabotage-Zounds, Universal, Dargil, both solo and with her former pop-rock band Mler ife Dada. Currently she is giving recitals with works of Kurt Weill and Boris Vian, preparing sound installations and other sound art issues.
